Bookbinding, publishing, satisfying solutions

Graphic Thought Facility... again.

I love every single thing that they create.
- easy to say, but extremely hard to sincerely find
in a design studio.

This solution to different stocks, textures and paper sizes
is why designers exist.  They have made a ringbound
publication look like a structured, quality piece of design.

There are so many inspiring aspects to this design that
will inform my practice, especially within the physical
binding of publications.  The high level of type and layout
skills are evident from cover to cover.  It is a beautiful &
satisfying solution through and through.

Evolution of visual culture in Hip Hop

Historical context:

Panel discussion on the evolution of visual culture in Hip Hop.

Mos Def

"America should deal with cleaning up its own house, and stop fucking with people, and stop pursuing its international interests with such disregard for how these people live, their cultural ties. It's some crazy colonial invader, Ponce de León–type shit. "We're gonna civilize y'all with Jesus and democracy and Chicken McNuggets. What is this you're over here eating? Hummus? That's some bullshit. Here's some French fries, and let's put some honey glaze on 'em. Now you rockin'!"

M / M Paris

This is just tastieee work.
- every last piece.

This album artowrk by M / M for Bjorks' release of 'Volta'
is one of my most favourite...bigtime.
It does exactly what an album cover should do.  It
stimulates & excites the eye.  Experiments with mediums,
textures and colours.

SPUR, manifesto

Later than I would have liked for my concept
development but I guess clients go at their own pace.

"Based in Leeds SPUR is a snapshot of the current cultural climate aiming to include various practices of creative outputs and culture to form an all encompassing platform for the arts.
We aim to be academic yet playful in our methodology and to keep things approachable for readers and contributing artists alike. One of Spurs objectives is to find out people’s intentions towards their work and the reasoning behind them, whether it be setting up their own project space or holding a basement show.
Spur intends to stimulate activity, discourse and participation, as well as simultaneously acting as a present window to the arts and an archive for the future."
