Merch Research

Looking at expansion of range for band merchandise,
along with promotional collateral.

For example, M/M (paris) had a huge infulence on
the art direction for Bjorks 'Volta' album & promo
collateral, from typeface design to tour posters.

M/M have also recentley been commissioned for
Bjorks latest work: Biophillia.  This includes a heavy
digital presence with regards to web and app interface.
Visually, the work is something to be inspired, but
from an economical point of view, it is clear that the
Volta identity and range suits our brief much moreso.

TPHB : Visual Direction

“Cracked Ray Tube is a collaborative realtime project by James Connolly and Kyle Evans that breaks and disrupts the interfaces of analog televisions and computer monitors to produce flashing, screeching, wobbulating, self-generated electronic noise and video.”

M / M Paris

This is just tastieee work.
- every last piece.

This album artowrk by M / M for Bjorks' release of 'Volta'
is one of my most favourite...bigtime.
It does exactly what an album cover should do.  It
stimulates & excites the eye.  Experiments with mediums,
textures and colours.

Client Bio, The Physics House Band

The Physics House Band

A three piece experimental future math band from Brighton, England.
- as stated on their Facebook page:

'Brightons principal Future-Math trio.'

The band consists of:
Adam Hutchison
Sam Organ
Dave Morgan

The band are extremely intelligent, every single one of

them.  This reinforces the reason as to why Luke asked
me to collaborate with him for the brief- my work is
very ideas driven, something that TPHB are looking
for.  They want work that communicates as much as
possible, through ambiguous, very visual formats.

My approach to design is to try and communicate as

effectively as possible in the most original way
possible.  Intelligent, visual design.

Below is the first single release from the album we will

be designing for, the track is called Titan, based on the
moon of Saturn.

By looking at the visuals for this gig and past flyers;
art direction; tracks etc, the link between my work and
this is clear.

 DTC / Season 2005–2006

De Theatercompagnie
Season 2005–2006

Shown here is a brochure we designed to announce the new theatre season (2005–2006), basically a list displaying all upcoming plays. Technically, this folder is similar to the brochures we designed for Gilgamesj and for The Pillowman (see DTC / Gilgamesj and DTC / The Pillowman): an A2-sized poster folded into an A5-sized booklet.

In this case, the A2 sheet was a piece of fluorescent yellow paper, printed on the backside with blue and purple type. Enclosed was also a A5-sized cardboard sheet (green fluorescent), perforated in such a way that it could be used as two A6 postcards.
Unfolded, the booklet turns into a double-sided A2 sheet. Shown below the front- and backside of this sheet. The A5-sized postcard (front and back) is shown as well:

De Theatercompagnie

'Graphic identity' might be not the right word for this chapter. Truth is, in the case of De Theatercompagnie, we never really designed a logotype. If De Theatercompagnie ever had an actual graphic identity, it can be found in the posters: the use of quotations taken from the theatre plays, set in lowercase Helvetica, placed in specific typographic compositions. That is the graphic identity of De Theatercompagnie. What we are about to show here is just the stationery.
